THE 8TH ANNUAL LUCIE AWARDS IS NOW ACCEPTING SUPPORT CATEGORY NOMINATIONS ONLINE THROUGH AUGUST 31ST.

The 8th Annual Lucie Awards will take place on Wednesday, October 27 at Alice Tully Hall's Starr Theatre, Lincoln Center. The 8th Annual Lucie Awards will pay tribute to master photographers, present the work of the International Photography Awards Finalists, and present Support Category Awards to those in the creative community integral to crafting an image. We are accepting pulic nominations online now until August 31st. There is no fee to submit. Finalists will be announced on September 10, 2010.

INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS COMPETITION 8 JURYING IS NOW UNDER WAY.

Competition 8 of the International Photography Awards is now closed and the jurying has started. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, and finalists for the International Photographer of the Year, The Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year and the Discovery of the Year will be announced in Mid-August. The finalists work will be screened at the Annual Lucie Awards this Fall and the top three winners will be presented with Lucie Statues and Cash Prizes.

EN FOCO NEW WORKS PHOTOGRAPHY FELLOWSHIP AWARD ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS UNTIL JULY 31, 2010.

En Foco's New Works Photography Fellowship Awards is an annual program selecting three or more U.S. based photographers of Latino, African or Asian heritage, and Native Peoples of the Americas and Pacific, through a national call for entries.

New Works helps artists to create or complete an in-depth photographic series exploring themes of their choice, and provides the infrastructure needed for national visibility and a professional exhibition of their new work in the New York area.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR CARMEL ART AND FILM FESTIVAL

Located in charming and sophisticated Carmel-by-the-Sea, along California?s breath-taking Central Coast, the Carmel Art & Film Festival promises five days of total arts immersion. The festival will include: film, music, fine art, and photography, showcased throughout the picturesque village and the historic Sunset Cultural Arts Center – a gorgeous multi-use facility that includes exhibition space, lecture halls and a world class renovated 700 seat theatre with plush seating, beautiful architecture and superior acoustics. The director of the Sundance Film Festival is assisting the film portion of the event, juried fine art and photography exhibitions will open during the festival, with outdoor projection photography exhibits, art lectures, music, and fine wine and food all promising to attract art lovers from all corners. The Carmel Art and Film Festival will run from October 6 - 10.

The photography exhibition will hang at the Sunset Center, with the opening reception. The photography exhibition, however, will run the entire month of October. Out of all applications, 50 images will be chosen for the show. One winner will be selected for a feature in ARTWORKS Magazine.

Jurors:
Hossein Farmani is a major collector and promoter of photography around the world. He is also founder and president of the Lucie Awards™, the “Oscars” of photography.

Kim Weston, grandson of legendary photographer Edward Weston, is an award winning photographer in his own right, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of photography as fine art.

• The exhibition will be held from October 6th through 30th.
• Artist listing in event catalog with image and contact information.

FOTO VISURA ANNOUNCES THE 2010 FOTOVISURA GRANTS



FotoVisura is pleased to announce the 2010 FotoVisura Grants for Outstanding Personal Photography Project, focused on providing economical support and creative guidance to amateur, professional, and student photographers seeking to continue developing their personal work.

The Grant aims to support personal photography projects to encourage the production and development of photography outside the commercial realm. Any project not initiated by an assignment or commission is eligible for the Grant.

• The FotoVisura Grant for Outstanding Personal Photography Project
First prize: $2,000.00 + Prizes

• The Spotlight Grant for Outstanding Student Photography Project
First prize: $1,000.00 + Prizes

Important Dates:

• The Grant officially begins July 1, 2010
• The deadline is Wednesday, September 15th at 12:00 noon EST
• Final results will be published on November 1st, 2010
• Please allow for ample time to complete your entry. No exceptions will be made for late submissions.
