Wan’s work, which explores human perceptions of – and experiences with – the landscape. The project she will pursue, with the support of APA / Lucie Foundation, will continue the investigation of that landscape, through the lens of people who contemplate and carry out suicide in outdoor places: to imagine what these views might have looked like to these people. Did these landscape views inspire awe, fear, loneliness, a sense of peace? What could they have seen before they jumped, poisoned, or hung themselves? Are these landscape views able to give some kind of understanding and comfort to their loved ones?
